the bradfield club in peckham
In about 1890 the Bradfield College Home Mission began work in the Parish of St Chrysostom in Peckham. In 1911 the venture took the name “The Bradfield Boys Club”. Now welcoming both boys and girls, the Bradfield Club in Peckham continues that work to this day supported by Bradfield College, the Old Bradfieldian Society and the Bradfield Foundation. The Club has sought, over the years, to provide a stable and supportive environment for young people to relax, interact and develop as members of their community.
The day to day running of the Club is in the hands of its Club Leaders - Rachel Hughes and Aaron Shah. Old Bradfieldians play a major part in the management of the Club as well as providing substantial financial support.
The major building work that began on the Club in October 2008 has now been completed. The work included repairing the gym roof, installing new lights and fixing the heating and water systems. A new canopy and door was also recently added to the entrance of the Club.
Peter Roberts completed the Paris Marathon in April 2009 which raised nearly £19,000 for the benefit of the Club. This allowed the Club to purchase a new People Carrier which is proving to be a valuable asset.
The College, the Foundation and the Society are determined to establish a more solid funding base for the Club. In order to achieve this, and so promote this very important work in the heart of South London, the Bradfield Foundation is asking for your support as Old Bradfieldians, parents and friends.
The Club was honoured by a recent visit from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Click here to read more about the visit.
