bradfield waifs cricket club

The Club was founded in 1877. The Waifs play about 20 days of good standard club cricket each summer.  A selected side plays each year in the Cricketer Cup - a 50-over knock-out competition for 32 schools - with the Waifs being one of the first 16 schools to be invited into the inaugural competition  in 1967.   The Waifs have won this prestigious competition on three occasions in 1996, 1997 and 2005 as well as reaching the final in 1999 and 2002.

The Waifs play matches against the College on Bradfield Day each June and also play many of their matches on Pit - widely regarded as one of the most beautiful grounds in the country.  A highlight of the season is Waifs Week which is played at Bradfield with a mixture of one and two day matches.  The social side of the week is legendary, with an opportunity for the older members to enjoy the cricket and the formal dinners.
