The Past

In about 1890 the Bradfield College Home Mission began work in the Parish of St Chrysostom in Peckham.  In 1911 the venture took the name “The Bradfield Boys Club”.  Now welcoming both boys and girls, the Bradfield Club in Peckham continues that work to this day supported by Bradfield College, the Old Bradfieldian Society and the Bradfield Foundation.  The Club has sought, over the years, to provide a stable and supportive environment for young people to relax, interact and develop as members of their community. 

The Present  

The day to day running of the Club is in the hands of its Club Leaders - Rachel Hughes and Aaron Shah.  The College is currently involved in the life and work of the Club in a number of ways, having donated IT equipment and minibuses and regularly diverting a large proportion of the money collected at the Christmas carol services to the Club.  The College also seeks to support the Club by sharing professional expertise in a variety of areas.  Pupils from the College have made regular visits to take part in five-a-side football tournaments with local teams. 

Residential visits to the College in the Summer holidays have given members of the Club the opportunity to enjoy the College’s facilities;  a programme of activities is designed to help them develop personal skills and grow in confidence through new experiences and challenges. 

A concert held at All Saint’s Church, Peckham, in March 2008, gave all members of the Bradfield family (pupils, OBs, members from the Bradfield Club), together with choirs of  All Saints Church, the opportunity to unite and perform a huge variety of music. A similar event will be held in the future.

Old Bradfieldians play a major part in the management of the Club as well as providing substantial financial support. 

The second phase of a building programme is now under way and includes substantial repairs to the roof and improved ventilation and lighting. 

The Future

The College, the Foundation and the Society are determined to establish a more solid funding base for the Club.
